Surrounded by Pizza

Pizza is a wonderful food! the bread, the sauce, the spices, and you can include anything you want on top, and there is the CHEESE. I grew up in upstate new york, not very close to the highly acclaimed pizza of NYC, but close enough to know what is good and what is not. Then I moved to California and while they exceed at mexican food and asian cuisine, their pizza is not like it is in the eastern part of the country. But now that Darren and I are here, in philly with the cheese steaks, we seem to also be surrounded by Pizzas. There is the place a few doors down Bella Italia, and across from that Primavera Pizza kitchen, which is in a building built in to a hill with Peace a Pizza below it. Then if you go the other direction Ardmore Pizza tempts you. Darren likes the pizza from the Farmers Market which is right next to where he works. The Trader Joes frozen pizzas are good too. And . . . I know how to make my own crust, which is something my mom always did growing up.
The truth is we are surrounded, Tonight we had a frozen trader joe's pizza with veggies, to which we added ham and some garlic, and a little extra cheese to lock it all in. Darren decided he didn't particularly like most of the veggies on it, but I enjoyed our meal. We also has edamame and some yogurt to finish.
What are your favorite pizza toppings? What is a good combination that you recommend? I like canadian ham and pineapple when I am in a fun mood, it is also good in the summer when it is hot out, the pineapple is refreshing. When we order out it is usually olives, peppers, and pepperoni. With my massage school friends it was frequently pizza with garlic, jalapenos, and some mild flavored veggie, and always a cold beer. If there are many boys around the meat lovers is always good. I had fresh zucchini once and that was pretty good but it is definitely needs to be pre-discussed before ordering. Darren and I decided tonight that asparagus is not very good on pizza because of its strong odor.
Abby has also told me that in Colorado her Aunts get a certain wine to have with pizza and it goes better with certain toppings but the wine is the highlight. And if anyone of you  lived in the Driftwood apartments in Carpinteria you might remember the Pizza and beer match up that Andy Patterson did, a long time ago.
-Any tests and opinions are appreciated.
Love the Pizza

  1. Mmm...I love pizza. You make me want some. When I was in CA, 2 times did I get the shrimp pizza from CPK. It was delicious. Otherwise, I'm unoriginal with extra cheese, pepperoni, and garlic on top.
Good job writing this---its an exciting article about something that's potentially boring. <3
