We love marriage, we really do it is fun and relaxing and nice to be able to come home to your best friend. Since Darren has been working the early
shifts lately we have been able to have many delicious dinners together. We cook a nice meal, meat, starch, veggie, some times it even gets gourmet from one of our marvelous cook books. The problem comes only when we also need to finish the meal with dessert. We can have ice cream at home, or we take walks to 31 flavors. I Even baked a cake, and there is always the delicious frozen things from the Trader Joe's freezer to choose from( tonight's selection is Chocolate raspberry tarte). The nights when we take a walk before coming back to have dessert are probably the more healthy ones. I love dessert I would choose it over dinner most nights. But when eaten after a filling delicious
meal, and on a no exercise schedule we are going to be much larger soon. So what is the plan? We are going to continue on this path until all the sweets in the house are gone. We are going to hold each other accountable to not buy any more. There are several other options than a sweet, melted, buttery, creamy something. Then since my birthday is coming up soon. We are going to set the goal to finish all dessert by then and then go on a fast from after the cake until Halloween. WE can do it . . . 3-4 weeks no dessert, cold turkey. And then the next step would be to start exercising before it gets to be Freezing cold out side and all we do is sit around and drink hot chocolate.
So did this happen to you?
Do you think your addicted to dessert?
What are you going to have tonight?
What are you going to have tonight?
What is your opinion for the best exercise plan?
Or what is your favorite indulgence?
I would love a comment or recipe!

Ah ... the post married-15 huh? I can only say that since I chubbed up after we got married ...
ReplyDeleteI have definitely done the "no sweets," thing and it's pretty hard at first but then, like most things, it gets a bit easier. To ward off those sweat cravings at night I make some flavored decaf tea w/ honey and milk ... hopefully by the time you have sipped it down the craving is gone : ) But I think you guys know exactly what to do -- get it out of the house. : ) Keep us posted (haha) about the fast ...
ahah
ReplyDeleteso that's why darren was so interested in what i was eating for dinner the other day...
well--i applaud your efforts. it might not be that hard because you will gobble up the rest of your sweets, then go cold turkey, but you will have eaten so much, it'll be like hibernating, and it won't be difficult at all. : )
good luck--if you're tempted, eat a grape.
love, sam
We go in waves over this...we'll be good and then cave in. We got into the habit of making dessert every night. But for a while now (at least a year, maybe two) we have rid our house of sweets. We only eat sweets away from the house (which is often, because we eat dessert at our once-a-week date night and at Young Life nights, so that's twice a week, then add in potlucks, etc). So, we decided to not bring it into the house, that way at least we would be good at home. I go on dessert fasts, too, from time to time. But for the most part, we don't make dessert at home anymore. It does help a lot, because if we only have dessert a few times a week, then we don't crave it as often, as opposed to having it every night...we would crave it every night. So, there's my long answer.
ReplyDeleteInstead of dessert after the kids are in bed, I eat a piece of buttered toast or a bowl of Cheerios with a cut-up apple in it, while I watch a movie. That's about it.
As for the exercise. I love Curves, and also I have an exercise hoop which works well and you can get your heart-rate up. Also walking is great... always has been, always will be.
Sorry this was so long. I feel like we're talking...almost!
I miss you, Kate!
